After our first moais we entered another protected area with
evidence of domestic activity. Gina told us about the houses built by the Rapanui
people. They were shaped like boats and had canvas covers for roofs.
We then trekked along the coast of the island for several miles until we came to a cave.
This cave was used to house and protect young virgins.
At the end of our first day of hiking, champagne cocktails and hors d’oeuvres were served al fresco.
It was delightful!
