Before I leave Lisbon I want to make note of the handpainted ceramic tiles I saw in and on various buildings. They don't lend themselves to a neat story (yet). Perhaps they will on a future visit, if I can get to the National Tile Museum, which is supposed to be great, but it is on the outskirts of town, and I definitely did not have time for it on this visit. However, Come Fly With D truly appreciates things that are unique to a particular environment, and ceramic tiles are very Portuguese. Below are some photos of tiles I saw in my travels over the past few days.
