December 24, 2011Knowing that we were going to be here for the week prior to Christmas I wondered how the holidays would be celebrated in Cancun. While there is a "festive" feeling, the decorations are more subtle and not quite as "over the top" as in the United States. Here I have tried to capture with the photos some of the things that struck me as unusual, such as the bikini-clad Santa's elf, or the Christmas tree decorated with the monkey symbols from Carlos and Charlie's. The biggest contrast, however, was experienced when I came in from the pool to use the ladies room. It was a weird feeling to be in a bathing suit listening to hotel muzak playing the standard Christmas carols...Feliz Navidad and Prospero Ano Nuevo 2012 to all!
